Usually, I like being in control.

Except when it directly affects a tiny 12 lb wiggly mass of flesh that is my son. Today's dilemma is whether or not to send him to daycare.

We're in the midst of Mason's first cold. I think it's a cold anyway. He got some vaccinations almost two weeks ago and his symptoms began immediately afterward. At first I assumed they were side effects from the five (!?) vaccinations he got that day. We couldn't lay him on his back for a good four days. Every time we tried he'd squirm and cry because he couldn't breath. I actually sat up with him all night a couple of times. He's been congested for going on a week and a half, but has no fever. His cough is all but gone, but his little voice is so hoarse that I'd bet my life that it's sore. The pediatrician said symptoms should only last for two days after the shots, so I guess this is a cold? I called the office Tuesday of last week, but since he didn't have a fever or a severe cough, they said to just try sucking the snot out of his nose with one those aspirators. Yes, it was as fun as it sounded. And no, Mason didn't panic because he thought I was going to suck out his brain at all.

Anyway. So, yeah, I have to make the call. And I'm not entirely sure what to do. I know he's under the weather, but I don't want to be that mother who drops off her kid when she knows he's sick. But, is he really sick enough to NOT go? I have no idea. So I'm going to call the pediatrician again. That's what they get paid the big bucks for, right?
